For children with special needs the incidence of wandering is higher than typical developing children. Nearly half of children with autism will wander, or elope, from safe environments[ii]. Similarly, according to the National Alzheimer’s association, six in every ten people with Alzheimer’s disease exhibit wandering behavior[iii].
